ABOUT US Cozy Corner opened its doors in October of 2005. Proud owners of this wonderful quilt shop are Pam & Randy York. We chose to locate in historic downtown Coleman, one of the five communities which make up the Municipality of the Crowsnest Pass. The Crowsnest Pass Museum is located one block away. The NWMP Barracks where the famed murder of Alberta Provincial Policeman Sgt. Lawson occurred during Prohibition is on the street directly behind Cozy Corner. This seemed like a great spot for a quilt shop. A quirky fact is that the building we have was built as a government liquor store and continued that use until we renovated for a quilt shop. We preserved some of the attributes of the building, such as the shelving that was used for liquor display are now the shelves for fabrics. The checkout counter is the original, but the Point of Sale is an awesome computer program that we are still learning how to use to its fullest. We haven’t figured out how it makes fresh cinnamon buns yet, but then who needs sticky stuff around fabric anyway. We have been blessed to live in a mountain community which tourists are discovering. The Crowsnest River is said to be the best fly-fishing experience. Many of our customers come here for the fishing and find our store is a pleasant surprise. In the winter our area is also considered one of the best places for snowmobiling and other winter pursuits. Our customers know that when visiting “the Pass” they can come in and pass the time either shopping or sewing in “a quilter’s playground”. Our “quilter’s playground” (class area) is available on a first come first serve basis when classes are not in session. We have a cozy space for non-sewing companions to sit and enjoy the view from our front window or read some of the variety of magazines with a fireplace to take the chill off on not-so-warm days. We receive orders from distant places and ship to anywhere in the world. Our store is stocked with a large inventory of fabrics, notions and patterns. We stock many of the latest fabric lines. We cannot show all of our inventory on line, but if you are looking for a particular fabric, you can e-mail us at cozycor@shaw.ca and we will check our stock. Cozy Corner is open Thursday & Friday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 9:30 AM til 5:30 PM. Our phone number is 403-562-2699 and messages can be left 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our first year was a great experience and we have met many wonderful people through the store. We have had some pleasant surprises, running into people that we worked with years ago and acquaintances we haven’t seen in many years. We often feel that this venture has been the very best way to “retire”. After living and pursuing our careers in Calgary, moving to a small community and opening and operating this shop is very rewarding. It truly is a dream come true. Every day is a beautiful day in the Crowsnest Pass. Sincerely, Pam & Randy York
